I started shooting with one of the first Canon Rebel cameras over a decade ago.  At the time, I shot primarily nature and landscapes.  Although I never owned a film camera, the slow pace of this type of photography allowed me to understand the fundamentals of lighting, exposure, and framing.

After shooting wide for awhile, I went to the other extreme, obsessing over the details in macro and product photography.  This naturally led to capturing food, and since I also like to cook, this combined 2 passions nicely.  I was fortunate to be invited to shoot a few restaurants.

Like most photographers, you eventually get asked to shoot weddings.  While I partnered with a wedding photography company for awhile, after a few summers, it grew tiresome.

A few years after I got married, my wife and I began travelling.  I lugged my DSLR with me, and was rewarded by captivating images from our journeys.  Travel and lifestyle photography was fast-paced, and made use of my skills from other forms of photography.

While I don't lug around an SLR anymore, my Fuji mirrorless cameras seem to do the trick for now.   Ngan Photography is my collection of nature, food, lifestyle, travel and street photography.
